Because of the brass handle at the end of the spoon, we recommend this spoon is left out of the dishwasher to preserve its luster. Mild soap and water should be sufficient. If your spoon could use some sprucing, simply combine a little lemon juice with baking soda and apply the paste with a soft cloth. Do as Mr. Miyagi said and gently wax off any dirt/grime until thoroughly dry! Leaving water residue on brass can lead to unwanted water spots after your hard work!
