Brass Peanut Shell

This is our charming homage to the beloved Mungfali, or peanut, for which India is the second-largest producer globally. Crafted with precision, this trinket holder captures the essence of these proteinaceous gems that have become a culinary delight in myriad forms. Some are roughly chopped, coated in molten jaggery (gud), and dried – resulting in a rich, salted-caramel crunch called “chikki” that will warm your heart during the winter months. Others are fire-roasted, tossed with aromatic spices, onions, tomatoes, sprouts, chickpeas, fresh herbs, and topped with any spicy/tangy chutney or a dollop of yogurt (dahi) – for a quick, healthy, and mouth-watering “chaat.” However you would like to savor your peanuts, use this beautiful brass shell to store your little gems for safe-keeping.

If your brass could use some sprucing, simply combine a little lemon juice with baking soda and apply the paste with a soft cloth. If the tarnish is heavy, let the piece sit with the paste on it for 30 minutes. Take a washcloth or soft towel and heat it with warm water. Do as Mr. Miyagi said and gently wax off any dirt/grime until thoroughly dry! Leaving water residue on brass can lead to unwanted water spots after your hard work!

*As with all things made by hand, these pieces are all unique and small flaws may be present, which adds to the intrinsic character and beauty of each piece.
